KJ SANCHEZ (co-writer/ director) is the Associate Artistic Director at Two River Theater Company. At TRTC KJ recently directed Quiara Hudes’ newest play, 26 Miles, which will be moving to the Roundhouse Theater in Bethesda, MA.  Other directing credits for TRTC include Private Lives (set in Buenos Aries with a Latino cast), the world premiere of ReEntry and David Ives’ Mere Mortals.  Other credits include Heather Raffo’s 9 Parts of Desire at Actors Theatre of Louisville.  Her plays, as writer and director, include: Four Short Plays, Four Big Ideas commissioned by Grant Makers in the Arts for the Council on Foundations National Conference, Pants on Fire in collaboration with the A.R.T./MXAT Institute at Harvard, Highway 47 with Working Classroom in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Handcuff Girl Saves the World, which premiered at the Washington Ensemble Theater (WET) in Seattle. Upcoming work includes Eye for Eye, which will examine America’s retributive judicial system and will include interviews with victims and perpetrators of violent crimes for Cornerstone Theatre in Los Angeles. KJ collaborated with Michael John Garcés, Aya Ogawa and Marc Bamuthi Joseph on The Borges Project, which was presented at the International Theater Institute Congress in the Philippines. She also directed The House of Atreus, John Lewin’s adaptation of The Oresteia, for the University of British Columbia.  She is a former member of Anne Bogart's SITI Company and with SITI collaboratively created and performed several plays, touring extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally. KJ is the former Associate Director of Artistic Programs at New Dramatists, recently served as Artist in Residence at the University of Washington and is a currently an Associate Artist with the critically acclaimed The Civilians in New York City. She is a New York Theatre Workshop Usual Suspect, has served two terms on the Screen Actors Guild National Board of Directors, is a William and Eva Fox Foundation fellow, an NEA/TCG CDP for Directors recipient, and a TCG New Generations Grant recipient .

EMILY ACKERMAN (co-writer) is an Associate Artist with The Civilians, a critically acclaimed and award winning company that specializes in interview based theatre.  With The Civilians: This Beautiful City (Original Collaborator/Performer; Colorado Springs, ATL/Humana Festival 2008, Studio Theatre, Center Theatre Group, Vineyard Theatre), Gone Missing (Barrow Street Theatre, Off-Broadway Cast Album, Actor’s Theatre of Louisville), and developmental workshops of Shadow of Himself by Neal Bell.  Other collaborative writing/performance work includes The Charlotte Cushman Project, with The Laramie Project head writer Leigh Fondakowski (workshop co-produced by Tectonic Theatre Project and About Face Theatre), and Four Short Plays, Four Big Ideas with KJ Sanchez (commissioned by Grant Makers in the Arts for the Council on Foundations National Conference). Performance credits include:  Precious Little (Clubbed Thumb), Well (as Lisa Kron, Arena Stage), Clean Alternatives (59E59th Street/Edinburgh Festival), The People’s Temple (Perseverance Theatre), The Constant Wife (American Conservatory Theatre & Seattle Repertory Theatre), Ghosts (Berkeley Repertory Theatre), The Seagull, Twelfth Night, Love’s Labours Lost, The Skin of our Teeth, Romeo & Juliet, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead, Medea (California Shakespeare Theater), St. Joan, The Entertainer, The Weir (Aurora Theatre Company), the world premiere of  Kissing the Witch (Magic Theatre). Ms. Ackerman is also a teaching artist who has taught several workshops on interview based theatre with such institutions as The Kennedy Center (international artist program), The Vineyard Theatre, Colorado College and Connecticut College.  She has two brothers who serve in the USMC.

URBAN STAGES (producer) is an award-winning, not-for-profit Off-Broadway Theatre Company founded in 1983 by current Artistic Director Frances Hill. Over the past 25 years, Urban Stages has produced over 70 productions (mostly world premieres) including Pulitzer Prize Finalist, Eisa Davis’ Bulrusher (2007), two Drama Desk nominations, an Outer Critic's Circle Award, an Obie nomination, and eight Audelco nominations. Our productions of Men On The Verge Of A Hispanic Breakdown, by Guillermo Reyes, and Minor Demons, by Bruce Graham subsequently moved to commercial theatres. Chili Queen, a play by newscaster Jim Lehrer, transferred to the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. (1989).  Chungmi Kim’s Comfort Women moved to Seoul, Korea and is being translated into Chinese to be produced in Asian communities in Vancouver and Toronto, Canada.  Last season, Urban Stages’ produced Joe Iconis’ World Premiere of his musical “ReWrite: A Musical Comedy Triple Feature”.  The majority of works developed at Urban Stages have had further productions commercially, regionally, and abroad. Numerous projects developed at Urban Stages have been adapted into film and television projects, including Scar, by Murray Mednick, Conversations with the Goddesses, by Agapi Stassinopoulos, and Cotton Mary, by Alexandra Viets. Urban Stages has  a consistent history of discovering new writers to the theatre community and introducing their plays into theatrical repertory.
